Diet Rite soft drinks, produced by P&N Beverages, were highly commended in the Non-Alcoholic Beverages category, sponsored by Tronics.
Whereas existing diet soft drinks are primarily based around cola, Diet Rite comes in fruit flavours.
Diet Rite has no added sugar, artificial colours or flavours, has 5% juice content and contains 95% less calories than traditional soft drinks (with the exception of the Lemonade).
Judges commended the product for its use of ingredients and commented on the marketing campaign, which centred around the product being a healthy diet product.
Available in both 600ml and 1.25L, Diet Rite is available in five flavours: Orange, Passionfruit, Lemon, Lemonade and Rozé.
The drink is sold through supermarkets and impulse channels nationally.
Speaking at the event, Peter Brooks said he hadn’t expected the win.
“When we first arrived I looked at the number of people competing and I thought there was a chance we might win something but being a soft-drink we probably wouldn’t, so it was great to win the award.”
When asked how he felt after accepting the award he said that it was an inspiration to all those involved and recognition for their work.
