Accuweigh has said it is possible to eliminate double handling by fitting stretch wrappers with load cells and digital weight indicators.

It fitted a WSEP stretch wrapper at Contract Packaging Systems’ Thomastown facility with load cells, allowing the unit to accurately weigh wrapped pallets.

This eliminated the need for the pallet to be transported to a separate set of platform scales for additional weighing.

A digital weight indicator attached to the mast of the stretch wrapper indicates the weight.

According to the weighing solutions provider, most stretch wrappers have a substantial base, making the fitting operation relatively simple.

It recommends using Salter Prodec load cells for such applications because they are resilient to damage by rotational forces, a common problem with stretch wrappers.
