Celia Johnson

Freedom Foods 100 Healthy Calories (100HC) range, produced by Freedom Nutritional Products’ was highly commended in the Health and Wellness category, sponsored by Amcor.

The range of serving and calorie-controlled cereals and cookies combines unsaturated fatty acids to promote heart health, low-GI carbohydrates to control hunger and glucose levels, as well as ingredients that are high in fibre and low in salt to promote normal functioning of the intestinal tract and prevent high blood pressure.

“The fibre content across our range encourages good health by enabling the consumer to feel fuller for longer and reducing their calorie intake,” Freedom Nutritional Products’ Bish Lakshminarayana said.

The Hi Lite breakfast cereal and breakfast bar contain over 50% nutritious wholegrains, and fruit juice concentrate is used instead of glucose and oil to bind and toast.

Psyllium, derived from the shrub-like herb plantains that are high in soluble fibre, is added to the cereal to ensure a high-fibre content.

Freedom Nutritional Products’ cookie range contains Hi Maize, a naturally resistant starch that is rich in fibre and pre-biotic properties to encourage the growth of beneficial bacteria in the bowel.

Front of pack nutritional information, displaying the nutritional makeup of a serving size, the percentage of the consumer’s recommended daily intake delivered through the product, allows Freedom Nutritional Products to communicae with and educate consumers.
