Global food company HJ Heinz has recalled a batch of baby food in Hong Kong after traces of melamine were found in the products.  

Heinz recalled one batch, or 270 cases, of one variety of baby food as a precautionary measure after small traces of melamine were discovered. The product, Heinz Intelligence Many Many Vegetable Cereal, was made in China for distribution in China only.    

"No other Heinz products are affected and Heinz wishes to assure consumers of the safety of its products," the company said in a statement.  

The recall affects less than 1% of Heinz's baby food sales in Hong Kong and follows new legislation in Hong Kong that sets a limit for melamine for children under 36 months at 1 milligram per kilogram.
