Linx 4900 CIJ coder cleans up in wash-down environments

 With an IP55 rated stainless steel cover, sealed print-head and printer-adjusted running parameters, the 2-line Linx 4900 printer, which can print logos and graphics, is designed for minimal user intervention.

Features include:
  • 2-line CIJ — ideal for food, pharmaceutical and wash-down environments;
  • No factory air needed (hence reduced costs);
  • Single-button power down;
  • Intelligent inkjet system controls print-head temperature, time of flight and ink pressure;
  • Sealed print-head and stainless-steel case need no manual adjustments or intervention;
  • Simple user interface has WYSIWYG message display; and
  • Low cost of ownership.
Engineered for reliability and low cost of ownership, the Linx 4900 has been designed to be cleaner in operation, clearer in print quality and 'cleverer' through using advanced technologies, and therefore needing minimal intervention by the operator.

Since Matthews Intelligent Identification launched the 2-line continuous inkjet printer, it’s proven popular for food, pharmaceutical and wash-down environments.

Cleaner
Matthews’ manager for ink jet products, Carl Reid, has said that the printer’s tough and stylish stainless steel cover has no dirt traps, and liquids naturally slide off the surface. Because of the steel enclosure’s IP55 rating, it’s ideal for wash-down environments such as food and dairy packaging, without the added cost of factory air.

The 4900 automatically flushes the print-head and conduit with solvent at shutdown, removing any traces of ink and preparing the printer for a reliable and clean trouble free start-up.

Clearer
According to Reid, “an intelligent inkjet control system means the printer manages print-head temperature, time of flight and ink pressure, thus giving trouble-free viscosity control and consistent print quality — in other words, the Linx 4900 gives a consistent performance and cuts downtime. In addition, ink and solvent refilling is mistake proof and mess free.”

The simple, menu-driven screens give fast access to all printer functions. The clear, simple user interface with WYSIWYG message display mean messages can be created, selected, edited and printed correctly the first time. The printer has a clear, bright screen and full-size keyboard.

Cleverer
“Auto power-down is another valuable technological feature. Operators simply press a single button at the end of the shift; the print-head valve system and full auto-flush facility automatically clean the print-head before it powers down.

“This removes any inconvenience in waiting for the Linx 4900 to shut down,” explained Reid. “It also eliminates the risk of switching off the printer too soon. And the feature ensures the Linx 4900 is always ready for a trouble-free start up — even after extended shutdowns. It’s a ‘switch off and walk away’ button.”

The printer case and print-head design mean no manual intervention. The robust print-head is sealed, with no need for manual print-head adjustments, thus protecting critical components from risk of damage or maladjustment that could affect print quality. Neither does the operator need to open the Linx 4900’s cover.

Running parameters are automatically adjusted and the printer provides clear on-screen diagnostics.

The Linx 4900 can store up to 50 messages. A preview screen makes message selection easy and mistake-free. The Linx 4900 can print logos and graphics, and it has a wide range of ready-to-use date, time, sequential number and shift-coding formats from which to choose.

“The Linx 4900 combines Linx’s track record for engineering excellence and design leadership. The streamlined unit packs technological advances into its stylish, robust casing, making it extremely practical for users in FMCG manufacturing. Its low cost of ownership is just another benefit for customers.

“The Linx 4900 is basically a printer you can install and forget.”
