Nomura Shoji Sonic Sheet Tester

The Nomura Shoji Sonic Sheet Tester from IDM Instruments.
Available from IDM Instruments, the Nomura Shoji Sonic Sheet Tester (SST) is used for analysing fibre and molecular orientation of sheets, such as paper and plastic film, with the technique of ultrasonic propagation velocity measurement.

According to the company, the result of SST analysis has a very good correlation with young’s modulus, which represents tensile stiffness. Fibre and molecular orientation, as well as tensile stiffness are very important properties of paper and film sheet for many applications, such as high speed and precise colour printing to keep good run-ability and converting to strong corrugated paper box structure.

The SST measuring operation and data analysis is all done via computer. All key measured values and graph are displayed on the program for 15 seconds after the measurement has been taken.

The SST can also be purchased with an optional automatic feeding unit, in which both CD and MD profile measurements can be taken.
