OTHER MATTERS
Response from Ministerial Council
In relation to the following Proposal which was declared urgent under s.95 of the FSANZ Act, after consideration of FSANZ’s decision to re-affirm the variation as gazetted in Amendment No. 99 to the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code(FSC 41) which was published by FSANZ on 26 June 2008, the Australia and New Zealand Food Regulation Ministerial Council did not request a review of FSANZ’s decision:
Proposal P1006 — Remove Commencement Provision for Certain Special Purpose Infant Formula
No further action is required to be taken.
Rejection of Application
After making an Initial Assessment of the following Application, FSANZ decided to reject the Application:
Application A545 — Vegetarian Labelling: to introduce labelling for vegetarians either by requiring manufacturers to state if their products contain animal by products or by labelling products as ‘suitable for vegetarians’ or ‘not suitable for vegetarians’ [Received: 20 August 2004] [Applicant: Mr Peter McManus]
