New chief for AIFST

The Australian Institute of Food, Science and Technology (AIFST) has appointed Dr Michael Eyles as its new president.

Dr Eyles said he was looking forward to tackling important issues in food science and technology in his new role.

He said in the current economic climate alongside social changes such as new modes of communication, Dr Eyles emphasised that it was important for the AIFST to focus on value for its members and to evolve to achieve its objectives.

Dr Eyles is currently the executive manager of the Simplification Initiative at CSIRO and has held a wide range of positions throughout his career including that of chief executive of Food Science Australia and director of the Dairy Industry Quality Centre.
