HOFEX, one of Asia’s food and hospitality trade shows held in Hong Kong, showcased more than 50 exhibitors from across New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia and Tasmania. This year’s event featured Australia’s premium meats, seafood, packaged foods, wines and spirits.
Among the products on display, Australian meat drew the most attention. In 2024, Australian chilled beef and frozen lamb were the top exports to Hong Kong. Sir Harry Wagyu, a brand by beef producer Elbow Valley Beef, was warmly welcomed not only for its high-quality beef but also for its approach to food waste reduction.
Australian seafood was also recognised at HOFEX. With the value of seafood exports growing by nine per cent in 2024, there is increasing interest from foodservice customers and hotels in Hong Kong in traceable and sustainable seafood.
“Hong Kong is Australia’s sixth-largest food export destination,” said senior trade and investment commissioner, Austrade Hong Kong Bing Liu.
Before and during the event, Australian exporters received support from Austrade to showcase Australian products and grow their businesses. These trade events aim to increase exports and create new opportunities for the food and beverage sector.
“We see HOFEX Hong Kong as an excellent opportunity to gain market entry,” said sales & marketing manager at The House of Honey, Leigh Taylor.
“The Austrade team has been instrumental in providing guidance, support and opportunities.
“They have created chances to meet potential customers and buyers in Hong Kong.”
Austrade is also planning to participate in Asia Fruit Logistica 2025 in Hong Kong.
