Adelaide Hills announces Chardonnay May celebrations

The Adelaide Hills Wine Region unveils a variety of Chardonnay wine experiences across cellar doors for its 2024 Chardonnay May celebration.

Alex Trescowthick, president of Adelaide Hills Wine Region said, “During May, we invite everyone to taste an outstanding Adelaide Hills Chardonnay at your favourite bar, restaurant, or bottle shop.”

Throughout May, consumers are invited to enjoy special Chardonnay tastings, wineries including Murdoch Hill, Ashton Hills, Lofty Valley Estate, and Howard Vineyard will feature tasting flights with older wines, demonstrating Chardonnay’s evolution.

“As the state’s premium cool climate wine region, the Adelaide Hills is the source of South Australia’s most sought-after Chardonnay.,” said Trescowthick.

Somerled will serve past vintages by the glass at their cellar bar, while Tappanappa, home to Adelaide Hills Chardonnay at the historic ‘Tiers Vineyard’ since 1979, will open rare back vintages for one weekend only.

It is expected most wineries will also unveil their new release 2023 Chardonnays during May, providing fans the first opportunity to taste the latest vintage.

Adding to the celebration consumers can experience the finest Chardonnays from the region at a lavish dinner hosted by Fourth Hill Providore in Verdun on May 9th and 10th.

This event, known as “Adelaide Hills Chardonnay Heroes,” part of the Tasting Australia program, was a sold-out success last year and is extended to two nights this year due to popular demand.

Chardonnay-themed parties are set to add excitement to the month.

Adelaide Hills’ Chardonnay May runs 1st to 31st May 2024. Details of events and bookings are available online.
