All eyes on AI: SafetyCulture leads $8M funding round for Unleash

AI

When SafetyCulture first began, we started out on a mission to help teams do their best work everyday. As we continue to build out a world-class operations platform, we’re also on the lookout for other great innovations to help transform the experience of working teams.

The world of work is becoming increasingly dispersed, and it’s a far more visual place. Naturally, there’s a growing need for simple yet powerful tools to help drive visibility. That’s why we’re excited to announce SafetyCulture is the lead investor in the Series A funding round for Unleash live!

Unleash is one of the world’s leading AI video analytics platforms. Launched in 2016 by co-founders Hanno Blankenstein and Jason Grier, Unleash live’s AI powered real-time analytics platform, “Intelligent Remote Vision” has analysed over 30 million minutes of footage.

Hold on… what’s Intelligent Remote Vision?

AI

Unleash live is an AI powered video analytics solution. It combines visual footage from any existing camera source – smartphones, drones, CCTVs – with predictive analytics to generate immediate, actionable data.

Unleash’s technology has been a key enabler in areas like infrastructure, transport, and environmental compliance. From automating inspections on wind farms to supporting public transport operators with commuter, social distancing, and face mask analytics, the possibilities are endless!

You can imagine the knock-on benefits, too. Customers get instant insights into their asset base, employees, and customers. This enables them to improve safety, increase productivity and accuracy, and drive down costs.

And that’s not all — the company has seen over 500 per cent growth since March 2020.

Unleash live’s CEO, Blankenstein explained that the COVID-19 pandemic had played a part in the increased adoption of video streaming and remote collaboration, with a growing number of businesses now using the tech to overcome the challenges of maintaining distributed assets and to keep employees out of harm’s way.

So, what’s next?

Remote monitoring and machine learning assisted inspections will remain critical even as we emerge from the pandemic. There’s a significant opportunity here to integrate Unleash’s technology and leverage its capability to create sophisticated insights and workflows.

For now, Unleash live will use the Series A funding to fuel the growth of its AI Apps Store, where developers and organisations can build, train and deploy Apps that meet specific enterprise needs. The funding will also support the expansion of its US team. In addition, SafetyCulture CEO, Luke Anear, will be joining the Unleash live board.

It’s great to see such innovative new thinking in response to old challenges. We recognise the potential of leveraging camera feeds to trigger safer, smarter actions. AI video analytics is an enormously powerful data source for an operations platform like ours, and one that many of our customers can benefit from. “
