Amore wins three golds at cheese awards

That’s Amore Cheese can add more awards to its list of achievements after getting 11 medals at the Dairy Industry Association of Australia (DIAA) Dairy Product Competition.

With results announced remotely ahead of the rescheduled Victorian Awards Luncheon in October, the Melbourne-based cheese manufacturer won medals for the following products:

  • Gold Medal – Diavoletti
  • Gold Medal – Fior di Latte
  • Gold Medal – Burrata
  • Silver Medal – Drunken Buffalo
  • Silver Medal – Smoked Scamorza
  • Silver Medal – Traditional Ricotta
  • Silver Medal – Smoked Bocconcini
  • Silver Medal – Scamorza Bianca
  • Silver Medal – Truffle Caciotta
  • Silver Medal – Buffalo Caciotta
  • Silver Medal – Buffalo Mozzarella

The competitions are judged by industry experts, selected for their specific dairy product knowledge, and judging is based on the entries’ technical merit.

Winners of gold and silver medals can use the medal images on the products’ packaging for up to three years. For the products that won gold medals, the DIAA competitions are a gateway to the Australian Grand Dairy Awards by Dairy Australia so it is very exciting for That’s Amore Cheese to have won three.

“I am so proud of our products,” said Giorgio Linguanti, managing director at That’s Amore Cheese. “We work so hard to create the very best cheeses every day and it is fantastic to receive this recognition.”

“With everything that has happened the last few months, this will really give the team a lift.

“Having pivoted the business to be able to offer our products direct to consumers’ doors via our delivery service as well as supply to our hospitality customers, we are excited to be able to announce so many medal winners that both the general public and the hospitality trade can purchase,” said Linguanti.

That’s Amore Cheese Diavoletti is a very unique and special product. It is a small provolina shaped smoked cheese with a chilli stuffed olive at its centre. It also took out the Flavoured Cheese Award at the Grand Dairy Awards earlier this year as well as many others previously.

“The balance of the mild cheese, with salty olive and a kick of chilli makes for a wonderfully unexpected taste sensation. The name translates to ‘little devils’ which is fun,” said Giorgio.

“Then there are all the other fantastic cheeses that won gold and silver medals. At That’s Amore Cheese, we love making tasty and unique cheeses and recognition such as this spurs us on to keep creating.”
