Wine Communicators of Australia has announced the interim appointment of Angela Gosden and Katie Spain to its board of directors.

Angela Gosden brings financial and management experience to the board. A certified practising accountant, she has held general manager roles at wine businesses including Cullen Wines and Clairault Streicker Wines in Western Australia and Pooley Wines in Tasmania.

Her work has included oversight of operations, governance and business planning. Her background spans senior accounting, audit and leadership roles, and she is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Katie Spain is a journalist and author whose work has appeared in Good Food, Australia’s Wine Business Magazine, Gourmet Traveller, Broadsheet, Selector Magazine and Halliday Magazine.

She was named Wine Communicator of the Year by Wine Communicators of Australia in 2021 and has received multiple industry awards. Her work focuses on wine storytelling and supporting emerging communicators.

“The addition of Katie Spain and Angela Gosden will strengthen our already talented and industrious volunteer WCA Board,” said WCA national chair Lynda Schenk.

“As a highly respected writer, Katie’s representation reflects WCA’s origins in the historic Wine Press Clubs and ensures that the voice of wine writers remain embedded in our mission.

“Meanwhile Angela’s deep knowledge of financial reporting, compliance and governance ensures WCA maintains strong financial stewardship.

“Both appointments reinforce WCA’s dedication to celebrate and support excellence in wine communication across Australia.”

The appointments are interim and will remain in place until ratification at WCA’s 2026 annual general meeting in November.
