Angove Family Winemakers awarded prestigious gold

Angove Family Winemakers, Australia’s largest Certified Organic winemakers, won a Gold Medal at the Australian Organic Wine Awards 2020 for the 2019 Angove Naturalis Cabernet Sauvignon.

The big win is the latest achievement in an ongoing stream of local and international accolades picked up by the South Australian winemakers.

The peak body awards celebrate the finest drops from the country’s best certified organic and biodynamic winemakers, showcasing the varietals of high-quality organic wine across the industry.

Angove Family Wines has a strong commitment to sustainability at all levels and prides itself on producing 100 per cent organic, handcrafted and vegan friendly wine.

Judges gave the Naturalis Cabernet Sauvignon a total of 95 points, the third highest for the entire competition.

Victoria and Richard Angove, joint managing directors of Angove Family Winemakers, said the Gold Medal was recognition for all the hard work their team has done over the past 15 years to transition the fifth generation family business into a 100 per cent certified organic operation.

“Importantly, we are honoured to be recognised alongside our industry colleagues who are all committed to the advancement of best in class organic viticulture,” said Victoria and Richard Angove.

The Angove’s said the business’s commitment to excellence in authentic Certified Organic winemaking, coupled with sustainable and biodynamic farming practices, has positioned the brand as an industry leader in Australia and globally.

Angove Family Winemakers was founded in 1886 on 10 acres by Dr William Thomas Angove and has remained in the family ever since with Richard and his sister Victoria taking over as managing directors in 2017.
