Australian leading winemaker Handpicked opens Melbourne luxury cellar door

Handpicked opens their brand-new high-end cellar door on 80 Collins, Melbourne. The three-storey building functions as both a retail wine ship and premium cheese, charcuterie and wine bar.

The space holds ‘tasting pods’ which are within the retail area, and an ‘experience room’ where customers can drink wine flights and are educated on the selection of wines.

“The goal with our cellar door is to bring the charm of viticulture and winemaking to an urban experience, where we can share and celebrate great wines with our guests,” said Peter Dillon, chief winemaker.

Handpicked will be open seven days a week for light breakfast, lunch or supper with both indoor and outdoor dining. The menu features international and regionally known cheese and charcuterie, with the menu boasting local produce from Victoria and Adelaide as well as international products from France and Italy.

“We are lucky to work with the best regions and varietals in the country, which allow us to express the wine’s style true to its character. With that being said, our production team and facility are based in Victoria, so Victorian wine regions and the Melbourne community are very special to us – which is why we are excited by this new location,” said Dillon.

Handpicked is a Victorian born winemaker established 2001 in the Mornington Peninsula. They are also Australia’s first winemaker to broach the luxury wine retail space. With a focus on sustainability, handpicked will showcase more than 50 wines from Australia famous vineyards such as the Yarra and Barossa valley.

“We have just released three new wines off two incredible sites we acquired in Tasmania a couple of years ago that are in conversion to organics, and we are excited to show these sorts of wines to our customers,” said Dillon.
