Australian Waste and Recycling Expo (AWRE) postponed to 2022

AWRE

The Australian Waste and Recycling Expo (AWRE) has announced the 2021 event will be postponed to 24-25 August 2022 at the ICC Sydney, due to the impact of continued border uncertainty and extended lockdowns.

With the COVID-19 situation across the nation and particularly in Sydney unfolding rapidly, together with the expansion of the lockdowns in multiple cities, the difficult decision was made last month.

AWRE represents the national waste and recycling community which brings in exhibitors and visitors predominantly from many different states across Australia. The extension of the lockdowns in New South Wales, Victoria and most recently South Australia has largely impacted interstate travel for the industry to connect, which has an adverse effect on delivering a nationwide event.

AWRE centres around showcasing the full circle of innovative products and sustainable solutions from across Australia, with the opportunity to connect with influential professionals. Whilst organisers were committed to delivering a much-anticipated face to face event this year, they aim to continue to deliver a national event that AWRE has become renowned for in 2022.

“The team have been working hard to plan and deliver AWRE 2021 with new initiatives, it is extremely disheartening to not run AWRE this year,” AWRE commercial director Bill Hare said.

“With much reviewing and replanning in the background over the past few weeks, the ambiguity of the coming months has led to the outcome, and we will focus all efforts into delivering a stronger AWRE 2022 instead.”

Although disappointed not to be able to host AWRE this year, the organisers have been continually humbled by the support received from exhibitors, partners, sponsors, speakers and suppliers. They stated that they look forward to delivering a standout face-to-face event and reuniting the industry on 24-25 August 2022 at ICC Sydney.
