Celebrating wines to support $9.5 billion industry

A 2025 wine show will be celebrating the showcase of Victorian wines from across the state.

In the Victorian Wine Show, the Premier’s Trophy recognises the ‘best of the best’ in Victoria. A panel of industry experts, including winemakers and sommeliers, awarded the trophy to Adrian Rodda from A. Rodda Wines for the 2023 Baxendale Chardonnay.

“Victoria is home to some of the finest wine makers, producing world-class wines that showcase local craftsmanship, strengthen the economy, create jobs, and position the state as the Australian leader of premium, homegrown wine,” said premier Jacinta Allan.

Wine is an integral part of Victoria’s economy, contributing a total of $9.5 billion. The industry plays a key role in providing jobs at wineries, vineyards and cellar doors, and attracts visitors both nationally and globally to wine regions.

To grow the industry, the government is backing the sector through market development programs, including the $4.5 million Wine to World export program.

“We back our local wine producers and their high quality products and are proud to produce some of the best wines in the world,” said minister for agriculture Ros Spence.

Working closely with the industry, the government aims to capture new opportunities as part of the Victorian Wine Strategy, set to launch in late 2025.

“Victoria’s wine producers make some of the best wines in the world, and tonight’s event showcases the quality and the diversity of our state’s incredible wine offering, from Heathcote to Gippsland,” said member for Eureka and parliamentary secretary for Regional Victoria Michaela Settle.

Judging will be held from 28-30 October 2025.
