Champagne event sparkles across Australia with hundreds of products on offer

Taste Champagne 2018 is kicking off on Monday the 6th of August, in Sydney, with hundreds of drinks on offer.

In the past five years, Taste Champagne has grown into a popular event that showcases champagne from brands such as Dom Pérignon, Hatt et Söner and Vranken.

The event is a grand tasting in which guests are invited to stroll at their own pace between champagne houses, growers and cooperatives.

In 2017, Taste Champagne showcased 214 cuvées from 74 houses and the line up is even bigger for 2018.

The event is hosted by Tyson Stelzer, International Wine and Spirit Communicator of the Year, in conjunction with BlackEvents.

BlackEvents founder Craig McDonald said the events, across Australia, were meant to feel intimate.

“We’re creating a space for people to enjoy fine champagne with a sense of serenity and personal interaction. It’s not just about tasting the champagne, but also meeting others who are passionate about it,” he said.

After fifteen years of strong growth in Australia, 2017 hit a new high as a record-smashing year for champagne consumption.

More than 8.5 million bottles were popped in 2017 – 16 per cent increase from 2016.

This unprecedented growth positioned Australia as the fastest-growing of champagne’s top ten markets by both volume and value in 2017.

A market dominated by entry-level non-vintage cuvées, 2017 saw an explosion in prestige cuvées to an all-time record, almost three times that of 2016 kicks off at the Four Seasons Hotel on the 6th of August, from 6pm.
