Coles, pork farmers, and suppliers have set new benchmarks for FightMND, raising over $9.3 million during Big Freeze 10.
The funds were raised through sales of Big Freeze merchandise and various Coles supermarket items, supported by contributions from team members, suppliers, and customers. With this achievement, Coles’ cumulative fundraising for FightMND is set to raise approximately $40 million over the next seven years.
FightMND Campaigns Director Bec Daniher highlighted that Coles’ fundraising efforts reached a final tally of over $20.1 million in the Big Freeze 10 campaign. Daniher emphasised that these funds will continue to support targeted investments in research and treatments, aiming to drive discoveries towards a cure for the disease.
“Ten years of the Big Freeze has helped FightMND make targeted investments into projects focused on developing new treatments and driving discoveries towards a cure. The funds raised during Big Freeze 10 will help continue this work,” said Daniher.
Coles Kangaroo Flat in Victoria led the charge, raising more than $58,000 in just over six weeks. Regional communities also showed remarkable support, with seven of the top 10 fundraising stores located in regional areas.
Coles chief commercial officer Anna Croft expressed gratitude for the unprecedented support. Croft said the collective effort that contributed to this record-breaking achievement.
“Coles is delighted to have raised a record amount for FightMND in their milestone year. We’re incredibly grateful to all our customers, Aussie pork farmers and suppliers like Cadbury, Peters Ice Cream and Asahi Beverages for their generosity and support for Big Freeze 10,” said Croft.
“We hope the funds raised will go a long way in helping FightMND to find a cure for MND and to help support the health of the thousands of Australians who are affected by this cruel disease,” she added.
