De Bortoli Estate Vineyard Pinot Noir receives award recognition

De Bortoli Wines has announced that its 2023 Yarra Valley Estate Vineyard Pinot Noir has been awarded a Double Gold medal at the prestigious 2024 San Francisco International Wine Competition (SFIWC).

This achievement underscores De Bortoli’s commitment to producing exceptional Yarra Valley Pinot Noir, celebrated for its distinct character, regional expression, and winemaking expertise.

The SFIWC, one of the world’s most respected wine competitions, attracts thousands of entries from wineries across the globe. Double Gold medals are awarded to wines that demonstrate exceptional quality, style, and character, making this a significant accolade for De Bortoli’s Estate Vineyard Pinot Noir.

The 2023 Estate Vineyard Pinot Noir was among the top-performing Pinot Noirs at the SFIWC, earning recognition as one of just five standout wines to reach the final round of the competition. As the only Australian wine to make this list, it further cements its place as a benchmark for Australian Pinot Noir.

The SFIWC Judging Panel described it as having “intense aromas of dark fruits on the nose and palate, with bright acidity and a solid tannic core. The finish is long, with lingering dark fruit notes.”

“It’s incredibly rewarding to have our Yarra Valley Pinot Noir recognised internationally, given the utmost care we take in making it,” said Kate Webber, De Bortoli Yarra Valley winemaker.

“We’re proud of the consistent acclaim our Estate Vineyard Pinot Noir receives, both in Australia and overseas.”

In addition to the Estate Vineyard Pinot Noir, the 2020 Noble One was also awarded a Double Gold at the 2024 SFIWC. This latest win adds to Noble One’s rich legacy – one of Australia’s most awarded and internationally acclaimed wines, setting the standard for Australian Botrytis dessert winemaking.
