East Coast Canning has announced a partnership with Sweden-based packaging technology company Meadow.
The partnership will see East Coast Canning introduce a resealable aluminium can technology to the Australian and New Zealand markets. The system offers a reusable and versatile packaging option across a range of consumer-packaged goods.
“Our understanding of the canning supply chain, from printing to filling and consultation, makes East Coast Canning well placed to accelerate the adoption of this solution in Australia and New Zealand,” said Chris ‘CK’ Kelly, co-founder of the company.
“This partnership goes beyond beer, spanning into health, beauty and personal care.”
For years, the potential of aluminium cans for multi-use, refillable and extended-consumption products has been limited by engineering challenges. The partnership introduces a resealable mechanism that makes aluminium suitable for categories beyond traditional beverages.
Potential uses range from personal care products such as body washes and shampoos, which use a “daisy topping crimp” to signal non-ingestibility, to pharmaceuticals, sauces and resealable single-serve energy drinks.
“Partnering with East Coast Canning marks a step in making aluminium-based packaging accessible on a global scale,” said Meadow CEO and co-founder Victor Ljungberg.
“Together, we are empowering brands to unlock the potential of aluminium cans across multiple categories, delivering improved usability and more sustainable product experiences,” said Meadow CEO and co-founder Victor Ljungberg.
East Coast Canning will focus on supplying packaging inputs, including printed cans and dispensers, allowing existing contract producers and brands to integrate the technology into their operations. This approach aims to support scalability and broad market access.
East Coast Canning’s operations span supply chain, printing, filling and packaging consultation. The partnership will support brands and businesses of all sizes in adopting aluminium packaging.
