Fatal milk poisoning was an act of revenge, China claims

China’s state run news agency, Xinhua, has suggested that the recent nitrate-tainted milk incident, which killed three people, was part of a deliberate vendetta.

In a report issued by Xinhua, police are said to have arrests a couple who co-rented land with the farmer at the centre of this latest Chinese milk controversy.

The police have indicated that nitrate was deliberately added to a vat of fresh milk at a dairy farm in Mafang village near Pingliang City, due to “some unresolved business disputes” between the arrested couple and the farmer.

The actions of the couple resulted in the deaths of three children and caused 35 others to be hospitalised.
