Food industry puts Murraylands on the menu

Two iconic South Australian brands have partnered to deliver 100 per cent locally-grown produce to discerning shoppers in an industry first.

Murraylands Food Alliance and Thomas Farms Kitchen are this month (October) launching a new range of meal boxes containing premium produce from Murraylands producers.

Featured producers include Thomas Foods International (beef and lamb), Costa Adelaide Mushrooms, Rivapak (onions), Parilla Premium Potatoes, Longridge Olives, Big River Pork, Ingham’s (chicken) and Swanport Harvest (vegetables).

Customers can select from a range of chef-created recipes which will be delivered to their door in a Murraylands Food Alliance and Thomas Farms Kitchen co-branded meal box.

Each recipe includes pre-portioned premium ingredients, starting from less than $10 per serve.

Recipes made using Murraylands produce include Korean BBQ beef bowl, mushroom burger, rump steak with olive tapenade, and lamp chops with green olive mash.

Murraylands Food Alliance – an initiative of Regional Development Australia Murraylands and Riverland (RDAMR) – is a collective of the Murraylands’ largest food producers, processors and manufacturers. Together these businesses produce nearly half (48 per cent) of the region’s gross regional product.

Thomas Farms Kitchen is an online food delivery service backed by one of South Australia’s largest agricultural businesses Thomas Foods International.

“Meal boxes that showcase the premium produce from one specific region is an Australian food industry first,” RDAMR Chief Executive Officer Jo Podoliak said.

“The meal boxes make it easy to buy the best produce the Murraylands has to offer and include all the core ingredients to cook a restaurant quality meal in the comfort of your own home.

“Consumers have an insatiable hunger to know where their food comes from. The Murraylands Food Alliance and Thomas Farms Kitchen co-branded meal boxes will help cater for this demand.

“All recipes in the Murraylands meal boxes feature locally-sourced ingredients, which reduces food miles while supporting the region’s farmers.

“The Murraylands is South Australia’s largest food bowl. It has established itself as a go-to food source with its authentic, local and premium quality reputation appealing to discerning foodies.”
