Food Magazine Awards in focus: Food Safety and Innovation in Non-Food

Last year, this category was taken out by Deb Australia for its antibacterial hand wash, Deb OxyBAC.

To enter into this category, the product or service needs to be directly applicable to the Australian or New Zealand food and beverage industries and offer a food safety benefit to the food industry. This benefit may be realised through design, improved sanitation or allergen testing.

Products that can be entered into this category include protective clothing, sanitation products and services, monitoring equipment, materials handling products and facility fit out products and materials.

Last year’s winner

Deb OxyBAC is a safe and effective hand wash that can be used where high levels of physical and bacterial contamination are encountered in food manufacturing, food processing, catering, restaurants and food service.

Jason Rigley, Deb Australia’s national marketing manager for Australia and New Zealand said the product marks a first in its category.

“OxyBAC is a world first innovation in antibacterial hand wash. It’s the only product on the market that has accelerated hydrogen peroxide that is safe for the environment, safer for the user but is effective in killing the bacteria on your hands,” he said.

“I think we won because it is different to what is available on the market, it’s a new product with nothing else like it in the category.”
