After three years of development, Australia’s Mexican fast food giant Guzman y Gomez (GYG) has launched a new plant-based filling — Shredded Shiitake Mushrooms.
Packed with incredible Mexican flavours, this mushroom filling is the first new filling to be introduced to the GYG menu since 2018 and is available in restaurants across Australia.
Guzman y Gomez has been working on the perfect plant-based protein filling that 100 per cent matched their strict clean guidelines, with no artificial flavours, added preservatives, unacceptable additives or added colours.
In collaboration with Australian food innovators, Fable Food Co, GYG developed the Shredded Shiitake Mushroom protein filling seasoned with GYG’s distinctive authentic Mexican flavours including smoked paprika, garlic and onion.
To celebrate the launch, Guzman y Gomez has introduced a new taco, the Chimi Shredded Mushroom Taco – a fresh, soft-shell tortilla filled with shredded mushroom, crisp iceberg lettuce and GYG’s signature Pico de Gallo and Chimi Mayo. It’s available for $5.
From bowls to burritos, the flavourful mushroom protein filling will be available for lunch and dinner for all plant-loving consumers.
Guzman y Gomez’s entire menu is 100 per cent clean, fresh and made to order daily.
“For years and years, GYG have been tasting and trialling every plant-based option on the market and we’ve finally found the one with Fable,” GYG founder and CEO Steven Marks said.
“You will not find a more delicious, clean plant-based filling than our incredible Shredded Shiitake Mushrooms. It’s so full of flavour, it’s honestly the best mushroom I’ve ever had. We’ve also launched the brand new Chimi Shredded Mushroom Taco which absolutely everyone is going to love.”
GYG wanted to offer guests a unique and delicious plant-based filling that could be added to all their menu items, from burritos to nachos.
