A Tasmanian broccoli and bean packing company has opened a new plant west of Devonport, creating 50 new jobs for the region.
Tasmanian Minister for Economic Development, David O’Byrne, who attended the official opening of Harvest Moon’s new $5-million plant last Friday said the new plant had been built with the help of a $2-million grant from the Tasmanian and Federal Governments.
“This part of Tasmania has a great history of producing quality vegetables,” he said. “This expansion by Harvest Moon shows just how much confidence they have in the future of that industry – which is great to see.
“Harvest Moon is a great example of a company playing to our local strengths, and boosting Tasmania’s reputation as a place of exceptional food and produce.”
