Woolworths Group has announced plans to launch HealthyLife, a new online business providing customers with health and wellness advice, experiences, products and services.
The HealthyLife platform will also provide fitness and nutrition tracking, vitamins and sports nutrition, as well as a specialised range of nutrition-based natural and organic products which are not currently offered at Woolworths.
“As a food and everyday needs retailer, we have an important role to play in supporting the health and wellbeing of our customers and have made significant progress in making health easier and more accessible for them,” Woolworths Group CEO Brad Banducci said.
“Over the last year alone, we’ve seen an 80 per cent increase in digital traffic on health-related searches across a range of categories on Woolworths Group digital platforms.
“To address this growing customer demand, we’re working hard to improve our product range in our store. Additionally, we’re establishing HealthyLife online to ensure we provide our customers with a convenient destination to meet their health and wellness needs.”
Via the soon-to-be-launched marketplace on the Woolworths website, customers will also gain access to a select range of products from HealthyLife.
The digital start-up will be led by managing director Ananth Sarathy, who has worked in various key digital leadership roles in Woolworths Group for more than eight years. Previously, as general manager of Digital Experience at WooliesX, Sarathy also helped to deliver web and mobile eCommerce experiences and platforms integrated with stores.
The HealthyLife brand was associated with an existing Australian health retail business, which closed its stores in 2019. Woolworths acquired the brand two years ago to help revive the business with a digital health offering.
Currently in its early stages of development, more details about HealthyLife will be available in the coming months, in its preparation for launch.
