The Kellogg Company and US food testing company, Covance, will open a new testing laboratory as a part of seven-year strategic contract aimed at improving food safety.
The new laboratory, located in Battle Creek, Michigan in the US, will provide customers with analytical chemistry, stability, and food safety testing services.
The laboratory will be affiliated with the US Centre for Food Protection, a global food protection network developed by economic development organisation, Battle Creek Unlimited.
Corporate Senior Vice President of Covance, James Lovett, said a facility dedicated to food testing and safety was critical for Industry.
"We are excited to expand our contributions to improving and protecting the global food supply,” he said.
“Food safety is top of mind among consumers, manufacturers, regulators, and legislators amidst recent food safety outbreaks.”
The laboratory is expected to be operational by the end of the year.
