Kept in the dark

Fonterra CEO, Andrew Ferrier, has said he was kept in the dark over complaints about Sanlu’s baby formula.

Information has been revealed which shows that Sanlu began receiving complaints about sick children as early as December last year. It failed to report those complaints for eight months and took no corrective measures.

Fonterra, which owns 43% of China’s Sanlu has released a statement this morning, in which Ferrier said he had no knowledge of revelations Sanlu received complaints as early as December blaming its infant formula for illnesses in babies.
