Kiwano’s the new kiwi

A new joint venture company, Purely Exotics Ltd, has been set up by DMP to grow Kiwano in NZ for export to the world.

“Having represented the owners of the (Kiwano) trademark for so long, we are very pleased to now be involved in the growing of the fruit as well,” said a statement from DMP.

“We welcome the opportunity to expand the markets for this versatile fruit.”

Kiwano, also called horned melon because of its spikey appearance, fetches high prices in the exotic fruits market.

DMP is a NZ growers-owned exporter of fresh produce. It is 100% owned by the J M Bostock Group.

DMP has been exporting exotic fruits for 30 years and is the market leader for export of in-season exotic fruits to the Japanese market.
