Kraft US implements changes to fuel growth for 2012

There are changes a plenty at Kraft Foods in the US, with 70 new products to be launched in 2012, as well as changes at the top.

Kraft Foods will launch “meal solutions” to its range, boasting that the products can greatly reduce meal preparation time.

The company says it’s “Kraft Sizzling Salads line lets the consumer add his/her own chicken and vegetable choices for a dinner in less than 20 minutes.”

It will also launch Kraft Fresh Take and Velveeta Cheesy Skillets Dinner Kit, plus a new range of cooking sauces including Zesty Fajita and Teriyaki Ginger, and salad dressings including Barbecue Ranch and Toasted Sesame.

“With global influence and the merging of different cultures, consumers are open to new flavor combinations,” Barry Calpino, Vice President, Breakthrough Innovation, Kraft Foods said.

“Being able to customize the flavor and texture to enhance the end dish is important and Kraft Foods is delivering,” he said.”

It’s also jumping on the hugely successful energy drink bandwagon, with the new MiO Energy Liquid Water Enhancer to follow the enhancerMiO.

One squirt of flavours including Black Cherry and Green Thunder into water provides about the same caffeine as a cup of coffee.

CFO having same role in snacks operations

Chief Financial Officer David Brearton position will remain the same when the food company splits in two.

In August the company announced it would split into two companies, separating the ever-expanding snacks business from the slower grocery business.

It is expected the changes will be complete by the end of 2012.

Kraft says Chairman and Chief Executive Irene B. Rosenfeld will maintain the same roles with the new snack branch, which is yet to be named.

It will be responsible for growing the presence and success of Oreo cookies, Trident gum and Cadbury chocolates.
