Tasmanian distiller, Lark Distillery has been named Best Australian Distiller at the inaugural Australian Distiller Spirits Awards.
Renowned for its range of single malts, Lark took out the top award for achieving the highest average score based on the company’s three top scoring exhibits.
On the win, Bill Lark of Lark Distillery said "It's a proud moment for me, and a wonderful thing to see how we (the industry) are growing and the respect that our industry is gaining overseas.
“Bars that we once dreamed of being in are now wanting desperately to have more Australian spirits, and Melbourne really is the mecca for that. Winning this award is a huge honour and surprise.”
The Champion Trophy winners for the inaugural ADSA are:
- Whisky: Great Southern Distillery, Limeburners Peated Single Malt Barrel M227(WA)
- Gin: The Tailor Made Spirits Company, The West Winds Gin – The Sabre (WA)
- Brandy: VOK Beverages, Black Bottle XO Brandy (SA)
- Rum: Hoochery Distillery, Spike’s Reserve (WA)
- Liqueur: Castle Glen Australia, Pecan & Hazelnut Liqueur (QLD)
- Alternative Spirits: Edgemill Group, Zeus Oyzo (VIC)
- Champion Australian Distiller: Lark Distillery (TAS)
The Australian Distilled Spirits Awards are conducted by the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV).
