Little Moons mochi ice cream launches in Australia

Little Moons Mochi Ice Cream

Little Moons, the mochi ice cream brand which became a viral phenomenon on TikTok and the UK’s fastest-growing ice cream brand, has officially been launched in Australia.

Launching with three of the brand’s most popular flavours, Vegan Belgian Chocolate & Hazelnut and Vegan Tropical Passionfruit and Mango are now available to buy exclusively from Woolworths, with Honey Roasted Pistachio soon to follow.

To celebrate the brand’s launch in Australia, Little Moons will be handing out delicious mochi ice cream in Bondi Beach on 07 October 2022.

The mochi ice cream brand has been popular across the UK since its explosion on social media in 2021. The brand’s beloved mochi ice cream balls feature Little Moons’ signature gelato ice cream, wrapped in soft mochi dough.

Mochi is a Japanese rice flour dough that has been steamed and pounded to give it its distinctive texture. Little Moons mochi bites are gluten-free and free from artificial flavourings, colourings, and preservatives.

Howard Wong, co-founder of Little Moons said, “We know Australia is a nation of ice cream lovers, so we’re thrilled to be working with Woolworths to bring Little Moons mochi bites Down Under.

“Little Moons’ success comes down to its uniqueness. Brightly-coloured, bite sized treats that offer the familiarity of ice-cream with a soft and chewy layer of mochi. Perfect for any occasion whether that’s a day time treat or a little after dinner indulgence, once you try them, I promise you’ll never look back!”

Little Moons was founded by Wong and his sister Vivien Wong in 2010. As children of parents who ran an Asian bakery, the pair maintained their strong passion for good food made with quality ingredients.

Taking inspiration from a treat they sampled in Japan, the siblings took to the kitchen with an ice cream machine and the craft they learned from their parents to experiment with what would later become Little Moons.

Initially focused on winning listings on the menus of London restaurants such as Nobu and Sushi Samba, as well as high street favourites like Yo! Sushi, in 2015 they launched the branded retail version of the ice cream. Today, the company produces 180 million mochi a year and is sold in over 20 countries.
