Mad Mex founder and CEO Clovis Young is taking on a new managing director role in the company he founded 16 years ago. COO Therese Frangie has been promoted to the CEO role, effective this week.
As managing director, Young will transition into the role that will see him focus on strategy and special projects.
As CEO, Frangie will continue to focus on growing the business with new restaurant locations and the elevation of the Mad Mex brand as a premium and authentic Mexican offering in the fast-casual marketplace.
Frangie has been with Mad Mex for the past six years and has been instrumental in the success of Mad Mex.
“We have been succession planning for a couple of years. The leadership team and I believe now is the right time for Therese to officially step into the CEO role. I am looking forward to the strategic managing director role and know the business will continue its strong growth trajectory,” Young said.
“As the business size and scale increases, Therese has the operational excellence and leadership capabilities to run the day-to-day business. She has been a driving force over the past six years and knows the business inside and out. This transition in role allows me to stay connected to the strategic goals of Mad Mex and better leverages my entrepreneurial strengths,” he added.
Young founded Mad Mex in 2007 with a desire to change the face of Mexican food in Australia. His goal was to bring to the market authentic Mexican food with wholesome, fresh and simple ingredients at the heart. And it’s been a recipe for success.
The company plans to scale its restaurant footprint to 100 stores by 2026 and has seen same-store sales increase by an average of 25 per cent each month over the last 12 months.
Frangie will take on the day-to-day operations of the business and continue to focus on growing the business with new store locations and the elevation of the Mad Mex brand as a premium and authentic Mexican offering.
