Citrus Australia and the Melbourne Citrus Committee have partnered to promote Australian grown mandarins.
Melbourne Citrus Committee Manager, Des McNamara, said the partnership would allow better relationships to be established with Australian citrus growers.
“Whilst the main goal of this partnership is to increase consumption of mandarins across the board, building strong and lasting relationship with citrus growers Australia wide is also very important,” McNamara said.
“Growers from all regions will benefit from this partnership as we will be in a better position to promote Australian grown mandarins. We also want to see this partnership lead to the promotion of all varieties of citrus fruit, which would be excellent news for all concerned.”
Citrus Australia’s Chief Executive Officer, Judith Damiani, said the partnership was a great start to the 2011 Australian mandarin season.
“Being able to promote mandarins directly to buyers, sellers and wholesalers, will certainly help Aussie mandarin growers penetrate the market.”
