Merivale appoints new group beverage manager

Merivale has announced the appointment of Maybe Sammy co-founder and former creative director, Andrea Gualdi, to the role of group beverage manager.

With an extensive background in developing award-winning beverage programs and a reputation for innovation, Gualdi is poised to further enhance Merivale’s beverage offering across its 90+ venues.

Prior to joining Merivale, Gualdi co-founded the Maybe Group where he opened Maybe Sammy, and was at the helm of the group’s creative direction, before moving to Ovolo Hotels to lead the food and beverage offering across its Australian properties.

Merivale’s Group general manager of beverage, Franck Moreau MS, expressed his enthusiasm at the appointment, “We’re thrilled to have Andrea join our growing team of top beverage talent. His deep knowledge of the industry and incredible expertise will allow us to continue to innovative and create the very best experiences for our guests.”

As Group Beverage Manager, Gualdi will lead the development and execution of beverage strategies across Merivale’s diverse portfolio of over 80 venues, including restaurants, bars, nightclub, and event spaces.

Andrea Gualdi shared his excitement about the role, saying, “Merivale’s commitment to pushing the boundaries in hospitality aligns perfectly with my own passion for creating unique and memorable drinks. I look forward to working with the talented teams at Merivale to create a beverage offering that rivals the world’s best.”

Andrea joins newly awarded 2023 Australian Bartender of the Year, James Irvine, who recently joined Merivale as group creative cocktail lead after being at Four Pillars as creative director of Gin Drinks for five years.
