The minister for agriculture Ros Spence has appointed Luke Wilson as the chair of the Dairy Food Safety Victoria (DFSV) Board.
Wilson will lead and provide strategic direction for DFSV – supporting the board’s and state’s core food regulation reform program.
Wilson brings experiences in public administration, having held senior executive roles across multiple sectors of the government. He previously served as Victoria’s first Cross Boarder Commissioner, with greatly respected leadership and commitment to public service.
Wilson’s background also includes leading the Agriculture, Resources, Energy, and Corporate Services portfolios within Victorian Government departments.
He has also held key responsibilities in food safety policy, governance, and stakeholder engagement.
In 2025, Wilson was awarded the Public Service Medal in recognition his contributions during the 2019-20 bushfires and the COVID-19 pandemic, with a focus on supporting affected communities and business by the state border restrictions.
The minister for Agriculture together with the DFSV board members and staff recognise and also extend gratitude to outgoing chair Dr. Anne Astin for her long service and contribution.
The appointment of the new Dairy Food Safety Victoria chair will continue to progress safety in the greater food sector. This leadership aims to advance and safeguard public health in Australia.
