Q: How is the hydraulics landscape changing, and what new skills will be critical for the next generation of technicians and sales specialists?
A: “We’re facing a shrinking skilled workforce at the same time the technology is getting more advanced. It’s no longer just mechanical – you need electronics, PLCs, proportional valves, and CAD capability. At the same time, I believe the tide may be turning and hopefully we’ll see more manufacturing return to Australia and New Zealand.”

Q: What is the most common misunderstanding you see around bearing selection or maintenance in hygienic processing environments?
A: “The most common misunderstanding is the inability to accurately diagnose the real cause of failure in highly regulated, 24/7 food and beverage environments. Strict compliance controls and continuous production often limit visibility into cleaning regimes, chemical exposure, and maintenance practices, making it difficult to identify whether issues stem from the bearing, the process, or the operating conditions …
