MYO brews ethical coffee deal with Phillip Di Bella

An Australian based salad and sandwich retailer has joined forces with coffee company Phillip Di Bella to create an ethical coffee program to support regional farmers.

MYO Australia has committed to using Phillip’s certified ‘Crop to Cup’ coffee in all of its stores, with beans sourced ethically from farmers in remote growing regions.

MYO Managing Director John Smith said the deal was an important step for the franchise to help promote fair worker’s rights and better living standards in coffee growing regions.

“Many coffee farmers don’t have access to basic healthcare like vaccinations, pre-natal care and dental care or educational opportunities for their children,” he said.

“The ‘Crop to Cup’ program directly addresses these issues and aims to strengthen the relationship between coffee growers and buyers such as MYO.

“We sell a large number of coffees in our stores everyday and it’s important for us to know our beans are being sourced ethically.”

Mr Smith said the ‘Crop to Cup’ beans were also certified against child labour.

A portion of money from MYO will go towards providing healthcare plans and moving assistance to coffee workers and their families and scholarship assistance to the children of coffee workers.
