Nestlé launches food photography campaign for Connoisseur ice cream

Nestlé has launched a food photography campaign in Australia to promote its Connoisseur ice cream brand.

The campaign, with tag line ‘the finest ingredients, arranged by artists’, features print advertisements, created by internationally acclaimed photographer Nadav Kander.

Kander’s work forms part of the public collection at the National Portrait Gallery and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, in the United Kingdom. He collaborated with award-winning British set designer Hana Al Sayed to create the images for the Connoisseur ice cream campaign.

Three flavours of Nestlé’s Connoisseur ice cream – Classic Vanilla, Caramel Honey Macadamia, and Café Grande – star in the advertisements, which show ingredients arranged in shapes resembling modern art installations.

The first advertisement shows a flurry of feather-light vanilla beans that appear to cascade over splashes of split fresh cream, while the second shows a tilting tower of caramel and macadamia nuts teeters on a table’s edge.

The third advertisement shows measures of Grand Marnier liqueur and cream suspended close to a piled coffee beans and chocolate-coated almonds.

Head of Marketing of Nestlé Peters, Camille Meylan, said the purpose of the campaign was to highlight the artistry involved in selecting the ingredients for the Connoisseur ice creams.

“It was a real coup for us to secure Nadav Kander, whose impressive work includes portraits of people such as United States President Barack Obama, the Hollywood actor Brad Pitt, and the World Champion Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt,” Meylan said.

The company’s Connoisseur ice creams, which are made in Melbourne, also come in the following flavours: Chocolate Obsession, Chocolate Honey Nougat, Summer Strawberry and Cookies and Cream.

Nestlé Peters, the ice cream division of Nestlé in Australia, acquired the Connoisseur brand in July 2009.
