New Food Standards Code compilation is released

A new compilation of the Food Standards Code has been released, consolidating all 80 Standards and 29 Schedules into a single, searchable PDF document.

The update, developed in response to stakeholder feedback, aims to streamline access to the Code. The document will be updated whenever changes are gazetted, with subscribers notified via the Notification Circular email.

Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) is the agency responsible for developing food safety standards for both Australia and New Zealand. The agency ensures food is safe for consumption and properly labelled. FSANZ’s work covers all aspects of food regulation, including composition, safety, and labelling.

In addition to setting food standards, FSANZ monitors food safety and manages risks associated with foodborne illnesses and contamination. The agency collaborates with government bodies, health professionals, and industry groups to ensure a consistent approach to food regulation across the two countries.

FSANZ operates under the Food Standards Code, a set of regulations covering food safety, libelling, and additives. The Code is regularly reviewed and updated, based on scientific evidence and public consultation, to ensure food safety standards remain current and effective.

The updated standards can be found here.
