The Victorian Growers of Australian Walnut Company are behind the sustainable agricultural practices used to develop Vitality Walnut Milk, Australia’s first long-life walnut milk.
While non-dairy milk alternatives are not new, the health benefits of walnuts are, as this product offers a nutritious and eco-friendly option.
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, 40 per cent of Australian households now have plant-based milk in their fridge, reflecting the growing vegan population and increased awareness of intolerances and health benefits associated with plant-based milk.
Chairperson of the Australian Walnut Company, Ian Geddes, emphasised the company’s dedication to innovation and consumer health by delivering sustainable, high-quality plant-based products.
“Our focus on innovation and consumer health ensures that we deliver plant-based options that are both accessible and enjoyable. Our mission is to contribute to a healthier planet and population, one product at a time,” said Geddes.
Vitality Walnut Milk is not just about health, but also about the sustainable agricultural practices used to develop the product.
“Walnuts use about half the water of almonds per kilogram of the finished product, making them an environmentally friendly choice,” said grower at the Australian Walnut Company, Jeremy Rorke.
Unlike other nuts, walnuts require significantly less water than almonds or cashews, reducing their carbon footprint and reinforcing their role as an environmentally responsible choice.
The company’s priority on water-efficient irrigation and innovative water management techniques effectively addresses global water scarcity issues.
The introduction of this plant-based alternative demonstrates the mission to combine sustainability and health innovation to meet evolving consumer needs.
Vitality Walnut Milk is now available at Melbourne IGA stores, local health food stores, and independent and specialty grocers.
