NSW wine week ready for kick off

Having celebrated its debut last year with a bang — 20,000 attending its opening event and over 50 of Sydney’s leading restaurants participating — The Sydney Morning Herald’s NSW Wine Week is back and even bigger this year.

Held from 1 to 7 March, NSW Wine Week’s major highlight, SMH Cellar Door, will kick-start the week-long festivities on Sunday in Hyde Park.

The SMH Cellar Door will this year have more premium wineries (over 120), more stallholders (over 40) and more regions from NSW (14) — making it the biggest outdoor gathering of wineries in Australia.

Sydney’s Hyde Park will be transformed into a ‘wine trail’ where wine lovers can sample their way through NSW wines for just $4 a tasting.

The SMH Cellar Door will bring wines from across the country, all to the convenience of one spot in the heart of Sydney.

Food from regional producers and Sydney restaurateurs will complement the wine on offer and all-day entertainment will make for a great day out.

Some of the wineries which will feature on the day will include:

  • Audrey Wilkinson
  • Barwang
  • Bimbadgen Estate
  • Cook’s Lot
  • De luliis
  • Echo Ridge
  • Hungerford Hill

In conjunction with the New South Wales Wine Industry Association (NSWWIA), NSW Wine Week, will continue for a week after the SMH Cellar Door.

Until March 7 there will be a celebration of NSW wine in restaurants throughout the city and the state.
