Ahead of the festive season, Nuts for Life is encouraging the hospitality industry to get nutty with their menus.
Nuts are delicious on their own, but cooking with them not only elevates the flavour and texture of dishes, but it also introduces an indulgent dimension.
From savoury to sweet, crunchy nuts pair with a variety of foods, including vegetables, meat, seafood and desserts.
They can be enjoyed mixed into a salad, baked into a tart, or even crusted over fish or meat – the possibilities are endless.
Nuts for Life program manager and dietitian, Belinda Neville, said that the versatility of nuts makes them a useful addition to any dish, but their nutrient content is what makes them a worthy addition.
“Nuts are nutrient dense, rich in essential vitamins, minerals, healthy fats, plant protein and fibre. They are naturally gluten-free, low in sodium, and contain no added sugar – factors many diners look for on the menu,” said Neville.
Nuts are available all year round in Australia, with flavours to cater to all taste buds.
