NZFN partners with Nestlé with new meal base

Nestlé

New Zealand Food Network (NZFN) has partnered with Nestlé New Zealand to support food-insecure households through the introduction of a meal base, available only through NZFN’s 65 food hubs nationwide.

Food delivered through NZFN and its Food Hubs can vary depending on season, demand and stock levels, meaning households will often need to adapt meals. The versatility of the meal base is designed to support this.

The co-branded MAGGI Hearty One Pot Casserole meal base is intended to help people prepare meals for up to six people using protein, vegetables and pantry items available at the food hubs.

The product is made locally at Nestlé’s Wiri factory in Auckland as part of the Collective Supply Program and provides more than 200,000 servings for NZFN recipients.

“This is a meaningful initiative for vulnerable Kiwis that enables them to get the most out of their food support,” said NZFN Gavin Findlay.

“We’re so grateful to the generosity and support of Nestlé, a true likeminded partner who understands the needs of the diverse groups we serve. It’s businesses like them that bring us closer to building more food resilient communities.”

Nestlé has donated more than 497,000 kg of food, the equivalent of more than 1.1 million meals over the past five years. Nestlé’s contributions to NZFN also include coffee, oats, seasoning sachets, treats and pet foods.

“Since partnering with NZFN in 2020, we’ve aimed to do more than donate products, we want to make a difference for the communities they support,” said Susan Catania, Nestlé New Zealand CEO.

“We believe wholeheartedly in NZFN’s mission of getting good food to where it’s needed most and are excited to continue innovating new ways to realise this.”
