Oakridge Wines wins Champion Victorian Winery award

Oakridge

The Victorian government is recognising Victoria’s wine industry and the thousands of jobs it supports by honouring this year’s Melbourne Royal Wine Awards winners, with Yarra Valley’s Oakridge Wines taking home the Champion Victorian Winery award.

Minister for agriculture Ros Spence presented the Yarra Valley’s Oakridge Wines with the Champion Victorian Winery award at the event.

“These are all exceptional wineries, as are all which took part in this year’s awards, and a stunning representation of what Victoria’s winemakers bring to the table,” she said.

“I am proud of our state’s wine industry and encourage all Victorians to support our local producers.”

Oakridge has received this award in three of the past four years – 2022, 2024 and 2025 – reflecting its long-standing role in Victorian winemaking since its founding in 1978.

Other award winners included Sexton Vineyard, which won Best Victorian Chardonnay for its 2024 Giant Steps Chardonnay, and Glenlofty Estate, awarded Best Victorian Shiraz for its 2024 Ridge Block Shiraz. Tahbilk Winery near Nagambie also received recognition, winning Best Single Varietal White.

Victoria’s wine industry is diverse, home to 21 distinct wine regions and around 400 cellar doors. It attracts visitors from across Australia and overseas and supports more than 23,000 jobs in grape growing, winemaking, logistics, exports, hospitality and retail.

Earlier this year, the government and industry launched the new Victorian Wine Strategy, which sets priorities for sustainable growth, workforce development, visitor experience, innovation, sustainability, and the expansion of domestic and international trade.

The government has also supported new extension services through Wine Victoria, in collaboration with Wine Australia.
