Oporto continues 20 new restaurants per year pace

The 28th Oporto in Queensland and 209th Oporto nationally has officially opened in Robina on the Gold Coast, with Oporto aiming to open more stores around the country this year.

Franchisees Geoff Bassett and Nicole Skjaerbaek – a husband-and-wife team who also opened Oporto Southport in 2022 said they opened the new store in response to market demand.

“We teamed up with Oporto to open Robina in response to demand for another Oporto location on the Gold Coast. Centred on flame grilled Portuguese style chicken, with flavoursome sauces and sides, the feedback we receive time and again is that it’s delicious food that come out quickly,” said Skjaerbaek.

This Portuguese-Chicken chain has cemented itself as a flame-grilled favourite, with demand driving a period of rapid growth for Oporto. Over the past couple of years, Oporto has opened 20+ stores each year – launching its 200th store in March 2024 in Caboolture South, Moreton Bay, Queensland.

Last year saw a surge in Oporto stores, particularly across Queensland and New South Wales, with new locations including Caboolture South; Ripley, Ipswich; Crows Nest, Sydney; Ulladulla and Warrawong.

Oporto continues to look for new sites and communities to share its flavours with, and there are many opportunities to join the familia (family) – for rewarding careers, casual and part time jobs and as a franchisee.
