PepsiCo International boss to retire

PepsiCo vice chairman and CEO of PepsiCo International, Mike White, has confirmed he will retire this year.

PepsiCo will subsequently split his role in two, with Zein Abdalla becoming CEO of PepsiCo Europe and Saad Abdul-Latif becoming CEO of PepsiCo Asia, Middle East, Africa.

And both will report to PepsiCo’s chairman and CEO, Indra Nooyi.

Mr White, who joined PepsiCo in 1990, will continue with PepsiCo as it works to integrate its drinks bottling arms PepsiAmericas and Pepsi Bottling Group.

PepsiCo secured the acquisitions of both bottlers in August.

Indra Nooyi said that among Mr White’s many achievements, he had led a “dramatic transformation” of PepsiCo’s international business, helping to grow total sales outside North America to close to US$20 billion, from less than $8 billion in 2003.
