Nestle Purina will close its Supercoat pet food factory at Inverell in north-western NSW after just two years of operation.
The closure will mean 58 permanent and 110 casuals will lose their jobs and a number of local businesses, including freight companies, will be affected.
Nestle Purina said it had decided to consolidate its pet food operations at Blayney in the central west of the state.
A business review showed the Blayney facility was capable of making all the products, including the Supercoat range.
Production will remain at Inverell until Christmas.
