Queensland beef, dairy and agricultural products have featured at an international networking event in Indonesia as part of a trade mission aimed at strengthening industry relationships.
The “Taste of Queensland” event brought together representatives from Queensland and Indonesia’s food and agriculture sectors to highlight the state’s key primary industries, including beef, live cattle, horticulture and processed foods.
International partnerships play an important role in Queensland’s target to increase primary production output to $30 billion by 2030. The trade mission, led by minister for Primary Industries Tony Perrett, focuses on building relationships between the two countries and promoting Queensland’s contribution to Indonesia’s food security and agricultural development.
The event placed particular emphasis on the beef supply chain, live cattle trade and sustainable agricultural practices. Indonesia is Australia’s largest beef cattle export market, and Queensland’s first shipment of dairy heifers will soon arrive to support Indonesia’s dairy industry.
Last year, Queensland’s total agricultural exports to Indonesia, its sixth largest export market, were valued at $718 million, underlining the importance of continued trade engagement.
Collaboration across the entire value chain was a central theme of the “Taste of Queensland” event, which highlighted partnerships across beef, live cattle, horticulture and processed foods.
“Queensland’s primary producers are proud of their reputation for delivering safe and sustainable products, and we are honoured to share these with our Indonesian partners,” said Perrett.
“Queensland and Indonesia share many values, at the heart of which is food security, to ensure an ongoing stable, safe and affordable supply chain to nourish our people.”
He said the upcoming launch of a premium beef brand in Indonesia reflects the growing demand for Queensland’s beef products and demonstrates the state’s capacity to meet international market needs while creating new opportunities for local producers.
